Novel delivery systems for antimicrobial therapy

An ideal drug delivery system must protect the drug from degradation and facilitate its controllable release at the target to minimise systemic side effects and increase the efficacy. Funded by the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) programme, the BioPolyMOF project proposes to combine highly porous metal-organic frameworks with polymers for drug delivery (polyMOFs), where the framework is composed of cations and polymers containing polycomplexant ligands (instead of molecular linkers). As part of the project work, researchers will generate a library of polyMOFs with antimicrobial properties and evaluate their effectiveness.
