INNOVATIVE ROUTES TO NOVEL CATALYST FOR UTILISING RENEWABLE ENERGIES

Project description

Creating tailor-made catalysts for a sustainable future

The greenhouse effect is a natural phenomenon. Without it, the temperature on Earth would be much lower. But there has been an increase in atmospheric concentrations of CO2 and other anthropogenic greenhouse gases. These emissions from human activities – from burning fossil fuels to cutting down forests – are causing an enhanced greenhouse effect known as global warming. If fast action is not taken on a global scale, life on Earth will be in grave danger. In this context, the EU-funded Innovalyst project will make use of the expertise of C2CAT, a Dutch innovative company expert in catalysis for hydrogen production and storage and recycling of CO2. The aim is the development and commercialisation of cost-effective alternative catalysts suitable for sustainable processes.

Objective

The alarming increase in the amount of green-house gases in the atmosphere and its severe climate consequences is a fact that will put life on Earth to serious risks if no quick action is taken on a global scale. C2CAT expertise in catalysis for H2 production, storage and recycling of CO2 will come into play. Contribution to the H2 economy and CO2 reduction will be achieved at C2CAT via design, development and commercialisation of cost-effective alternative catalysts suitable for sustainable processes.
