Periodic Reporting for period 2 - ETIP-B2022-2025 (EUROPEAN TECHNOLOGY AND INNOVATION PLATFORM BIOENERGY - SUPPORT OF RENEWABLE FUELS AND ADVANCED BIOENERGY STAKEHOLDERS 2022-2025)
Période du rapport: 2023-12-01 au 2025-05-31
The European Technology and Innovation Platform Bioenergy (ETIP Bioenergy) is based on voluntary engagement of its members from industry and academia. The platform aims to actively engage with stakeholders and civil society, link their needs to policy making of the European Union and Member States, and to provide advice to industry. The ETIP-B2022-2025 project´s objective is to support the platform in this task.
To achieve these objectives, the project facilitates Steering Committee and Working Group meetings for ETIP Bioenergy, provides information on research and innovation activities, related technologies and policies on the ETIP Bioenergy website, engages with stakeholders from all involved sectors for information exchange and to provide a basis for ETIP Bioenergy documents, forms citizen´s panels to develop citizen´s visions on the role of renewable fuels and bioenergy, and develops policy recommendations. Specific features include facilitating an update of the Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA), a biofuels and bioenergy innovation challenge (BBIC), a policy workshop, two Stakeholder Plenary Meetings (SPM) and the development of a financial independence plan for ETIP Bioenergy. All activities are widely communicated through newsletters, social media postings and dissemination events.
The project supports the functioning of ETIP Bioenergy by facilitating Steering Committee and Working Group meetings and coordinating the preparation of official ETIP Bioenergy documents such as the Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA). During the lifetime of the project, 12 Steering Committee meetings and numerous online Working Group meetings have been conducted. An update of the Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA) was published in 2023.
Joint activities with other ETIPs include the preparation of a position paper on renewable hydrogen, another position paper on at least 5% innovative renewables in Renewable Energy Directive revision, joint recommendations on the draft revised National Energy & Climate Plans (NECPs), a report on Skills in the Renewable Energy Sector, and a report on Policy needs and gaps for a sustainable bioenergy sector.
ETIP Bioenergy events include two Stakeholder Plenary Meetings, a series of online webinars for information exchange with experts, a series of public lectures reaching out to civil society, and the Biofuels and Bioenergy TrustxBio Innovation Challenge (BBIC). Citizen panels in four countries were held to develop citizen´s visions on bioenergy for 2050.
The ETIP Bioenergy website was restructured and the content was updated. 12 newsletter issued were published, and almost 100 social media posts released. About 800 stakeholders were reached through all these activities.
