Project description
Increasing scientific excellence at the University of Miskolc
The University of Miskolc promotes studies in materials sciences and focuses on excellence in research for a more sustainable, circular economy. The EU-funded CiRCLETECH project will raise scientific excellence and increase the scientific visibility of the University of Miskolc (UM) in sustainable circular economy research. UM, twins with Technische Universiteit Delft (TUD, NL) and Lappeenranta–Lahti University of Technology (LUT, FI). The project will create a long-lasting research hub (CiRCLETECH Hub) across Northern Hungary. CiRCLETECH proposes practical responses to barriers to participation in Horizon Europe. The project aims to increase scientific excellence in the traditional sense, develop new promising research actions and test innovative approaches.
Objective
The present proposal is to respond to multiple programme priorities: firstly to enhance the participation of underperforming member states in the framework programme, together with contributing to solutions for the major challenges of the European Union in research fields, as defined in the Horizon Europe programme, with a focus on challenges connected to the transition towards a Sustainable Circular Economy, and specifically technological and socio-economic aspects of the transition. Of relevance are challenges under Cluster 4 Digital, Industry and Space – Destination: Climate neutral, circular and digitized; Cluster 5 Destination: Cross-sectoral solutions for the climate transition, Destination: Efficient, sustainable and inclusive energy use. The project proposes measures to offer practical responses to barriers for participation in Horizon Europe and achievement of excellent research results, increasing scientific visibility of the University of Miskolc (UM) with the networked support of Technische Universiteit Delft (TUD)(NL) and Lappeenranta–Lahti University of Technology (LUT)(FI). Increasing scientific excellence in the traditional sense will be the aim of this joint exercise, where UM, with its excellent partners, will develop new promising research actions and test novel approaches in this research domain, opening future perspectives in the field of research for Sustainable Circular Economy. The University of Miskolc has a special interest in Materials’ Sciences and is focusing on excellence in research for a more sustainable, circular economy. Our primary objective will be raising scientific excellence of the University of Miskolc in the field of sustainable circular economy research, forming a long lasting Research Hub (CiRCLETECH Hub, across Northern Hungary. The creation of the operating framework of joint research will help setting up the basis of long lasting research cooperation in the field of sustainable circular economy for joint research ideas
