Robust and harmonized measurement and estimation methodology for quantifying food losses at the primary production stage

Robust, harmonized and standardised measurement and estimation methodology for quantifying field and post-harvest food losses. The methodology will cover the following five main commodity groups: (i) grain and pulses, (ii) fruits and vegetables, (iii) root tubers and oil crops, (iv) meat and animal derived products and (v) fish. For each commodity group, the methodology will answer WHAT, WHEN, WHERE and HOW to measure as well as how to report and communicate food losses.

This deliver contains the Plan for the Dissemination, Exploitation and Communication activities which will maximise the impact of the project results (First update)

Standard research protocol for the data collection

Protocol for data collection and assessment related to food loss drives and food loos accounting.

Report on testing results of all the FOLOU innovative solutions

Technical report of the tested innovative solutions. The report will include the main results of the testing, the accuracy of the developed method, the monitoring plan to ensure obtention of optimal quantification/estimation.

Portfolio of training and capacity building courses

Set training courses and materials that will be developed according the learning framework

Mapping of stakeholders and development of stakeholder engagement strategy

This deliverable contains a mapping of stakeholders and target audience, based on the identification of the stakeholders that have an interest and/or influence over the results of the project. An stakeholder engagement strategy will be included.

Technical description of all the FOLOU Innovative solutions

Technical description of the 6 innovative tools to measure and estimate food losses including details on how the technology will be implemented, tested and validated (data gathering and monitoring plan). The 6 innovative tools are: - Embedded video cameras to forecast yield and measure losses (vegetables and pulses) - UAV high resolution data (fruits and vegetables) - Satellite & UAV measurement (root tubers & oil crops and grains) - Multi-spectral cameras (fish) - Blockchain for cold chain and its logistics (fish) - Big data for market demand prediction (all commodity groups)

Product Category Rules for the assessment of sustainability burdens of food losses.

Technical documents that will include a set of guidelines that determine what data should be gathered and how it will be evaluated when conducting the life cycle assessment (LCA) and other sustainability assessments (e.g., LCC and SLCA)

Report on data collection (direct and indirect drivers of food loss)

Report from data collected in FOLOU in relation to food losses drivers in the different commodity groups. Data will be collected according the standard protocol developed in D2.1

Report describing the data currently available on food losses in the different commodity groups

Policy analysis of regulation impacting food loss in the EU

Report that will assess EU, national and regional legal regulations and soft law instruments with respect to their impact on food losses. Also, results on the assessment of potential regulatory barriers against implementation and up-scaling of innovative tools for measuring food loss will be investigated

IT infrastructure for the N-FLR and E-FLR including user authentication/security requirements according national/EU regulations/standards. The N-LFR and E-FLR will have the following sections: (i) a database to store food loss results, (ii) an user interphase for data input, (iii) a data sharing and data consultation interface
