Specific WP3 protocols (based on D1.2) and ethical approvals for each study intervention (se abrirá en una nueva ventana)

Using the framework developed in T3.1, we will develop a common protocol to evaluate nine nature-based therapy interventions. To increase the validity and comparability of the results across different cases, the WP3 team (including consortium members and the intervention teams) will develop a detailed common study protocol (that will be registered in clinicaltrials.gov and subsequently published in an open-access journal for transparency purposes) that will later be slightly adapted to each specific intervention. The study protocol will consider the specific characteristics of each case intervention and it will be developed after reviewing documentation for each case intervention, interviewing program directors and the technical team of each intervention and conducting observations of how each intervention is organised and implemented. The protocol will include instructions for the standardisation of the collection, processing and analysis of data regarding: (i) the characterization of each nature-based therapy (informed by the identified opportunities and barriers from WP2) in terms of type of activity, natural environment characteristics (vegetation, biodiversity, soundscape, etc. assessed using audits and environmental exposure measures) and social environment, (ii) pre- and post-study data on the contact of the participants with nature in their everyday life and nature-based health promotion (i.e., covariates for the purposes of the analysis of trial outcomes), (iii) mental health and wellbeing data, collected using standardised and validated measurements for mental health symptoms and wellbeing outcomes which have been validated in the appropriate languages (e.g. EQ-5D-5L, WEMWBS, etc.), and (iv) participant demographics.

Report detailing framework of nature-based therapy benefits on mental health and wellbeing, including its pathways (se abrirá en una nueva ventana)

Framework – informed by existing theories of change relating to mental health promotion and health behaviour change and the expertise of nature-based therapy providers from the consortium – including the identification of potential causal pathways between nature-based therapies (also using knowledge gained in WP2 to inform potential causal pathways for different models of therapy provision) and mental health

Project Management Handbook (se abrirá en una nueva ventana)

Will define the management structure, coordination and communication channels, reporting structure, work plan monitoring (activity and resources), risk management

GreenME audit tool for green and blue spaces (se abrirá en una nueva ventana)

A set of indicators and procedures to audit green and blue spaces will be developed, based on a review of the legislation focusing on natural areas, nature conservations, spatial planning and existing relevant assessment tools such as NEST and RECITAL. Indicators may include spatial features (e.g., size and accessibility), environmental quality (e.g. management and safety), and biodiversity. The indicator list and toolkit will be co-created and the final draft determined after actors’ consultation.

Legal & Ethics Management Handbook (se abrirá en una nueva ventana)

Legal & Ethics Management Handbook; this will include guidelines on how intellectual property rights will be maintained throughout the project

Operative website and social media accounts (se abrirá en una nueva ventana)

Project website where open access reports, deliverables, protocols and data (including socio-ecological maps and models and guidelines) will be available.Posts on LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, post on academic platforms, such as Quora, and research documents on ResearchGate and Academia.edu.

Communication, Dissemination and Exploitation Plan, visual identity, and communications toolkit (se abrirá en una nueva ventana)

The website and communications toolkits for the project will be designed and implemented. As part of the Communication, Dissemination and Exploitation plan, intellectual property rights will be addressed and included. This task will thus crossover with WP1, which contains the overall management and oversight of the project. The plan will then be reviewed over the course of the project.

First version of Data Management Plan (DMP) (se abrirá en una nueva ventana)

The UAB Team, as GreenME coordinator and with the support of the UAB library service, will produce a Data Management Plan (DMP), according to the guidance provided by the EU. The aim of the DMP is to describe the data, generated and/or collected during the project life cycle and how it will be managed. In GreenME, data refers to any kind of survey data, biophysical measurements, interview and focus groups recordings and transcripts, GIS data, and actor information used for the implementation of the project and the dissemination of results. In order to make research data findable, accessible, interoperable and re-usable (FAIR), the DMP will include information on: (i) the handling of research data during and after the end of the project; (ii) which data will be collected, processed and/or generated; (iii) which methodology and standards will be applied; (iv) how to make data Open Access; (v) how data will be preserved (including after the end of the project). UAB will draft a first version of the DMP, which will be delivered within the first six months and will be in charge of updating it as data sets are produced over the course of the project. The implementation of the DMP, open science and data protection principles will be coordinated and monitored by UAB, in particular by the appointed project manager together with the inputs of partners in charge of the tasks generating, using, or exploiting data and according to Advisory Board (AB) input.
