Résumé du contexte et des objectifs généraux du projet

Europe’s shift to a climate‑neutral and digital economy depends on reliable access to critical raw materials (CRMs) and better retention of secondary raw materials (SRMs) in the electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) sector. Rising demand, supply risks and information gaps at end‑of‑life cause material losses and low circularity, undermining Green Deal objectives. CE‑RISE addresses this by making trustworthy product‑ and material‑data travel across value chains so actors can trigger suitable R‑strategies (repair, reuse, refurbish, remanufacture, recycle) and capture more value.
The project delivers an integrated framework and Information System (IS) linking Digital Product Passports (DPPs) with computable R‑indicators and PEF‑compliant socio‑economic and environmental (SEE) assessments, offering modular decision‑support services while preserving confidentiality and verifiability.
CE‑RISE is converging on a practical framework that pulls DPP data into an organised, harmonised and interoperable stream so product‑relevant information can move reliably across value chains. It defines lean, reusable data attributes and templates, adds data‑quality and uncertainty metadata, and uses semantic interpretation and matching to normalise heterogeneous inputs. Connectivity respects confidentiality and verifiability through controlled access and on‑chain proofs.
On top of this intake layer, CE‑RISE is delivering user‑oriented tools that turn data into actionable insights. The R- module assesses where repair, reuse, refurbish, remanufacture or recycling are most feasible and beneficial; the Environmental Impacts module provides PEF‑aligned hybrid LCA results combining DPP primary data with curated open datasets, presenting uncertainty alongside results. These capabilities are demonstrated across pilots (ICT, printers, heat pumps, PV/secondary silicon, batteries) to show improved routing, higher SRM yield and clearer reporting.
To work at scale, CE‑RISE is strengthening its modular microservice architecture, APIs and DPP connectivity, and enhancing semantic search and data‑integration services. Beyond software, it will provide guidance and training to help manufacturers, refurbishers and recyclers adopt DPP practices and apply indicators in daily work, ensuring the IS supports real organisational change.

At month 36 of 48, CE‑RISE has built a preliminary Information System that ingests DPP data, supplements it with data‑quality and uncertainty metadata, and generates decision‑support outputs. The stack spans front‑end, microservices and a verifiable DPP (vDPP) layer with cryptographic proofs and selective disclosure, enabling trusted, access‑controlled sharing of sensitive supply‑chain data.
The consortium delivered the first cross‑category R‑indicators (reusability, repairability, refurbishability, remanufacturability, recyclability) and started partner testing, prioritising repairability and recyclability. In parallel, we finalised a comprehensive data‑quality and uncertainty framework (traceability, pedigree matrix, analytical/Monte‑Carlo propagation) for comparable, trustworthy results. For impact calculations, we released a disaggregated open background dataset and an automated, PEF‑aligned hybrid LCA procedure linking DPP foregrounds to LCI and Supply‑Use Tables.
To enable portable, machine‑actionable DPP/DMP data, CE‑RISE published a layered data‑model architecture with core/optional domains, profiles and clear separation between product/material content and metadata. A schema‑agnostic metadata layer makes passports self‑describing, while an access‑and‑governance model captures operational settings for selective disclosure at scale. Domain packages (materials, traceability & life‑cycle events, circularity/EoL, integrated LCA, compliance & standards, usage & maintenance) complete the stack, allowing modules to consume heterogeneous inputs consistently.
We also delivered the trust and connectivity layer: a vDPP anchored on energy‑efficient blockchain proofs, plus hardened APIs and selective disclosure for secure, verifiable data exchange.
Five pilots (ICT refurbishment, printers & cartridges, heat pumps, PV/secondary silicon, batteries) are demonstrating improved routing, higher SRM yield/quality and clearer reporting. Our conformity work was reframed into a Compliance Model Module assessing DPP data readiness against key standards (ESPR/CSRD/ESRS) and providing actionable feedback; development continues in 2026.

In 2025–2026, the project completed first versions of practical methods for scoring reusability, repairability, refurbishability, remanufacturability and recyclability, and began industry testing. In parallel, we built a first end‑to‑end digital information system connecting to verifiable DPPs for secure, integrity‑checked data sharing, and set up an automated, EU‑aligned environmental footprint calculator to compare design and end‑of‑life choices. Early pilots across ICT/printers, heat pumps, solar panels and batteries help companies test circular strategies in real operations.
Together, these outcomes can simplify repair and reuse, increase quality SRM supply, and provide buyers and policymakers with clearer, more trustworthy information, thus supporting cleaner products, improved compliance and new circular jobs. To scale up, the project now needs visible pilot demonstrations; strong alignment with standards and policy (ESPR/DPP, EN 4555x, PEF); deeper live‑data access via DPP providers; a pragmatic pre‑conformity/readiness check; clear IPR/commercial models for software building blocks; hands‑on training for adopters; and continued collaboration with related initiatives.
