Methodological framework paper: methodological framework paper will elaborate the theoretical and methodological approach to the analysis of identities and polarization as well as the state of the art and scope of relevant issues to be addressed. Project Ethics Plan comprises a set of provisions, procedures and requirements aimed to ensure that all research, disseminating and policy-related activities carried out within the TRUEDEM research plan do comply with ethical principles and relevant national, EU and international legislation, including the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union and the European Convention on Human Rights and its Supplementary Protocols. Particular focus will be made on meeting the principles of proportionality, the right to privacy, the right to the protection of personal data, the right to the physical and mental integrity of a person, the right to non-discrimination and the need to ensure highlevels of human health protection. Project ethics plan shall concern both consortium participants themselves, project participants (experts and general public) involved as informants, and stakeholders who participate as users of the project outputs.
State-of-the-art report on democratic innovations (s’ouvre dans une nouvelle fenêtre)D9.1. State-of-the-art report on democratic innovations: report highlighting how democratic innovations can help rebuild political trust and legitimacy as well as a addressing more specifically the potential of each type of democratic innovation for expanding political trust and/or countering distrust (e.g., depending on whether they are policy or process oriented, whether they increase initiative power or decision power, whether they are legal or constitutional instruments, whether they are binding or merely consultative). We will examine the extent to which increasing the number of decision makers, and deepening the quality of decisions by opening more discussion spaces can be articulated to reinforce political trust.
Catalogue of knowledge-based democratic innovations to enhance trust (s’ouvre dans une nouvelle fenêtre)D9.2. Catalogue of knowledge-based democratic innovations to enhance trust: a comprehensive glossary of policy actions and democratic innovations that can be applied to enhance political trust and support for democracy, structured by the type of action and the period of implementation. The catalogue will be translated into all project and main European languages and will be made available electronically in free access.
Consolidated report on the implications of socioeconomic transformations for democratic attitudes, political participation and trust (s’ouvre dans une nouvelle fenêtre)D3.5. Consolidated report on the implications of socioeconomic transformations for democratic attitudes, political participation and trust: altogether by studying specific country profiles with different outlooks (traditional, modern, and post-modern), background and rising social inequalities, and attitudes in response to three major social phenomena, this report will identify and reflect on the socioeconomic pathways to the shaping of democracy. Delivered in month 27.
Electoral volatility index: reliability assessment and dynamics in Europe (s’ouvre dans une nouvelle fenêtre)D2.4. Electoral volatility index - reliability assessment & dynamics in Europe: analytical report will examine the degree of change in voting behavior between elections across the EU member-states. Analysis will be conducted by observing electoral volatility in different countries and over time. The aim is also to define a way of calculating the volatility index that is less exposed to the contextual dynamics. Subsequently, with reference to the last two decades the evolution of support for the new Eurosceptic and populist parties will be observed as well.
D1.4. Set of educational materials on trust in political institutions in EU (Open Educational Resources): a set of educational materials on trust in political institutions in EU countries that will be offered as Open Educational Resources for Civic Education teachers to be used in their classes. Produced in English in month 15, translated into other European languages spoken by project beneficiaries.

Set of infographics on European and National elections: data on the mid- to long-term trends in voters’ turnout transformed into a set of infographic materials produced in different European languages and prepared for all EU member-states. Electronic database “Long-term trends of political trust dynamics” (1980-2022) (s’ouvre dans une nouvelle fenêtre)D1.3. Electronic database “Long-term trends of political trust dynamics” (1980-2022): a dataset of quantitative indicators of political trust in Europe from 1980s to the present time. The dataset, first procured in month 12 and updated through the course of the project, will be freely available through the project website. The data-set will be available as a web resource, but also for downloading in SPSS, Stata, SAS, R, and csv.
D1.6. European Observatory of Political Trust: an online network that is intended to regularly update and present to the European public the latest data on political trust. The observatory will have its own page within the project website, with the members of the network to be encouraged to establish their own online platform in future. The Observatory will continue functioning upon the end of the project (2025) thus contributing to the long-term effects of the project.
Printed dissemination materials (s’ouvre dans une nouvelle fenêtre)D11.3. Printed materials - leaflets, posters, roll up banners as well as printed editions of project analytical and scientific deliverables (infographics, policy briefs, educational materials, special issues). Exact schedule of production of the printed information and dissemination materials will be outlined in the dissemination plan. The ICSR-AT will be responsible for the production of such materials in English while all project participants will be encouraged to produce translations in their national languages.
D12.2. Data Management Plan (DMP) comprises a set of special procedures to collect, process and manage data tailed to the TRUEDEM research objectives and tasks and developed in strict accordance with the respective EU and national laws and ethical requirements. The plan will cover procedures involving analysis of secondary survey data and collection of primary human data that may involve sensitive personal data. The DMP will apply to all researchers of the TRUEDEM consortium. The plan for data-handling will include aspects such as: (1) data safety procedures which are compliant with privacy by de-sign and protection of confidentiality (including GDPR); (2) procedures for quantitative and qualitative data collection, storage, protection, retention, transfer if any, destruction or reuse; (3) metadata documentation, expected schedule for data access, data limitations for secondary use, data repository/sharing/archiving; (4) procedures related to the data employed for secondary data analysis; (5) choice of data, sharing and ownership of data, choice of software; (6) use of methods when observing participants; (7) roles and responsibilities of project staff in the management and retention of data.
