Project description
Appointing Mission Director of the Urban Transitions Mission
The EU’s Urban Transitions Mission is coled by the European Commission’s Directorate General for Research and Innovation, the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy, and the Joint Programming Initiative - Urban Europe. It focuses on climate neutral and smart cities. The EU-funded MI UTM project will support the appointment of the Mission’s Director with a grant covering the resources required for an initial two-year period. This will include overhead costs, as well as travel and external event engagements. The grant will also include a contribution towards conceptualisation, development and execution of the planned Annual Innovation Summit under the Urban Transitions Mission, which brings together clean energy and net zero leaders across the EU.
Objective
A grant to support the Mission Director for the Urban Transitions Mission under Mission Innovation, co-led by the European Commission DG Research and Innovation (RTD), the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy (GCoM), and Joint Programming Initiative - Urban Europe (JPI UE). This grant covers the resources required to appoint the Director for an initial two-year period - including overhead costs - as well as travel and external event engagements. It also contains a contribution towards conceptualization, development, and execution of the planned Annual Innovation Summit under the Urban Transitions Mission: a gathering of clean energy and net-zero leaders across national governments (and the European Commission), cities and local governments, businesses, academia, and civil society.
