The UTM coalition of partners, through the Executive Committee and led by the Mission Director, will organise an Annual Innovation Summit to share and disseminate Mission findings and provide a networking space to the Global Innovation Alliance of countries, relevant local and global stakeholders, partners, as well as and cities interested in implementing net-zero urban transitions.The aim of the Summit, to be held annually as of autumn 2023, is to mobilise cities, national governments and partners to facilitate the replication of existing solutions, the integration of new approaches and ultimately to accelerate the net-zero urban transition. Research and innovation practitioners are also expected to use this opportunity to connect with each other and for fruitful exchanges with the community of urban practitioners.The findings of the Mission during the implementation of the roadmapping work under pillar 1 will be showcased, as well as investment opportunities and findings on R&I gaps and needs and best practice.The Annual Innovation Summit will be aligned with the bi-ennial Innovate4Cities (I4C) conference - co-hosted by GCoM and UN-Habitat, and co-sponsored by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) - and other international conferences, events and consultations focused on the net-zero transition and complementary themes. These include the annual JPI Urban Europe policy conference, C40 Summits, UNFCCC COPs, or relevant international events hosted by any of the UTM partners, such as IRENA’s innovation week.
