In the first 18 months of the project, REALLOCATE successfully identified the needs of each pilot site and developed tailored action plans. Additionally, the project created innovative tools and solutions for urban redesign, established robust monitoring and evaluation systems, and developed knowledge-sharing initiatives, empowering cities to implement sustainable mobility strategies. The activities and key achievements for each of the technical work packages are summarised as follows:
WP2 activities aimed to identify SSML needs and define their deployment and implementation through stakeholder mapping, co-creation workshops, and user needs assessments, which are summarized in Deliverable 2.1. These insights informed tailored action plans for 15 pilot cities, facilitating innovative planning approaches aligned with SUMPs. Comprehensive deployment plans and implementation strategies developed are detailed in Deliverable 2.2. Concurrently, governance frameworks are being developed in collaboration with SSMLs.
WP3 provides horizontal expertise to help partner cities deploy safe, affordable, and sustainable mobility solutions. RP1 concentrated on identifying how the horizontal partners could support the SSMLs with their expertise, resulting in the development of specific tools and methodologies. The tools developed (either transversal or context specific) include utilising AI modeling and innovative methods to monitor and aid in the redesign of urban spaces, particularly with a focus on safety for vulnerable road users.
WP4 focused on peer-learning and capacity-building activities, equipping cities with the necessary tools to adopt inclusive mobility strategies. To support knowledge sharing, a baseline was established, and regular webinars, peer-learning visits, mentoring, and dedicated workshops during consortium meetings have been organised. The benchmark for integrated learning (Deliverable 4.1) and the cities’ self -assessments (Deliverable 4.2) address specific aspects pertaining to integrated mobility and climate planning.
WP5 established an evaluation framework (Deliverable 5.1) with KPIs for mobility, sustainability, and inclusivity, supported by data collection tools and workshops. An AI-powered dashboard (detailed in Deliverable 5.2) will enable real-time monitoring, predictive analytics, and assessment of road safety, green street design, and SSML interventions.
In addition to communication and dissemination activities, WP6 has advanced the engagement of 10 Cascade Cities establishing connections with the 15 SSMLs - laying the groundwork for ultimately developing a Replication Plan based on one REALLOCATE pilot and it’s respective interventions.
All of the aforementioned activities have been carried out in line with the coordination and monitoring of WP1, ensuring the effective execution of the project.
