Project description
Entirely natural anaemia treatment solution
Anaemia occurs when the blood cannot carry enough oxygen due to a lower number of red blood cells. The most common type is iron-deficiency anaemia (IDA), which leads to fatigue and increased risks. With 2.1 billion people affected globally, it is essential to explore natural and safe solutions. The EU-funded FeJuice project will commercialise a novel anaemia treatment developed by a Serbian deep tech start-up that researches the impact of food on iron absorption. The project targets the growing market for side effect-free functional foods. FeJuice aims to disrupt the iron supplement market by eliminating side effects during traditional treatment. This solution works to prevent and treat mild anaemia. The Women TechEU programme will assist in overcoming commercial challenges.
Objective
We are an award winning, female-led, deep-tech start-up. After 10 years of focused research on how foods impact iron absorption in the body, our multidisciplinary team of scientists and entrepreneurs founded FeJuice in 2020. Based out of Serbia, our team aims to commercialise the disruptive application of our discoveries – a novel solution for the treatment and preventing of anemia. Anemia is a disorder in which the blood has a reduced ability to carry oxygen to body tissues due to a reduced number of red blood cells. The most common type of anemia is iron-deficiency anemia or IDA, a condition associated with fatigue, lost productivity, lost cognitive function, and increased morbidity risks. Almost every woman has IDA at least once during her life. With 27% of the population worldwide, or 2.1 billion people, suffering from the condition, we believe each individual should have access to natural and side-effect free treatment and prevention solutions. Our mission is to create a healthier and happier world for the next generation through our natural, scientifically proven dietary formula. FeJuice aims to capture the growing market emerging in the area of functional foods as consumers seek natural and scientifically proven solutions that are side-effect free. Upon launch, FeJuice will disrupt the iron supplement market by effectively eliminating, or greatly offsetting, side-effects patients experience during traditional treatment Our 100% natural solution will work effectively for prevention and treatment of mild anemia caused by lower iron levels if consumed. With most of our funds currently committed to product development activities, the lump sum provided by the Women TechEU programme, combined with the coaching and enhanced visibility, will be fundamental to us overcoming our commercial challenges.
