Periodic Reporting for period 1 - UnderSec (Underwater Security)
Période du rapport: 2023-10-01 au 2025-03-31
The system employs a layers-based approach, comprising "Horizontal "Layers of Protection Technologies and "Logical" Layers of Data Management and Exploitation.
Integration of Multimodal Sensors into a holistic approach system, for the continuous 27/7 underwater surveillance, early threats’ detection, high confidence level recognition and classification of threats, for informed decision-making support and suggestion for action, as well as response to incidents support and formal reporting support. By default and since such implementations are not usually met, the system is considered to be beyond the current state of the art providing for the security never existed before.
Individual Technologies beyond the current state of the art and potential impact
HERCULES system: Ultra/Very Low Frequency EM Waves Transceivers, for the distant detection of explosives and early warning
Impact: Early warning and suspicious ships/boats control of operations and focused/ prioritised inspections, searching/ scanning mission assignment to dedicated assets upon objective threat’s evidence and early warning
Magnetic Sensors Grid (SAES), for the off the port entrance detection of underwater moving objects presenting a magnetic footprint (i.e. underwater UUV, suspicious towed object, etc.) and early warning
Underwater Loudhailers (in combination to High frequency Divers Detection Sonar), for multilingual, synchronous, informed deterrent verbal warnings, against potential diver intruders, upon users-based threat criteria
Underwater Visual Sensing Module, for the port entrance or vulnerable spot guard and supervision, against potential underwater intruders and/or suspicious objects strapped/ attached to ships hulls, supported with AI for the automatic detection and identification of anomalies.
Robotic assets (i.e. i) LAUV with Side Scan Sonar, Forward Looking Sonar, camera and Hovering Thrusters for detailed inspections, ii) ASV with underwater LiDAR, iii) Mini ROV with miniaturised Gamma-ray Spectrometer, and iv) ROV with Concealed Material Identification Module and Robotic Arms), dedicated to accomplish special underwater missions of patrolling, searching/ scanning on demand, identification of concealed material and classification of threats.
A variety of SW services to support autonomous/ semi-autonomous operation, situational awareness, security risk assessment, decision-making support, alarming and suggestion for action upon Users SOPs and CONOPS, interconnected in a cyber-secure platform incorporating a convenient Users Interface and dashboards, supporting Operators’ informed preventive and response actions, while assuring accountability.
