Résumé du contexte et des objectifs généraux du projet

Context:
EUSST (European Union Space Surveillance & Tracking) is a subcomponent of SSA (Situational Space Awareness) programme born from the need of management of the growing complexity of the orbital environment, and it is in charge of guaranteeing the safety and security of space environment either for space operations or the safeguard of space assets. This intricated orbital environment can result on a risk of collision between spacecraft and space debris. At the same time, objects may re-enter and cause damage on the ground.
This grant is contributing to the enhancement of the operations and the services provided by EU SST Partnership, and hence to improve the safety of European and national infrastructures, facilities and services, essential for the safety and security of the economies, societies and citizens in Europe. This is achieved by:
• Enhancing the core element to share data among EUSST (EUSST Database)
• Improving the data management system of the EUSST.
• Implementing a secure network to ensure privacy, safety and being able to handle confidential use.
• Assessing the feasibility to allow commercial use.
In short, the impact of the project is:
• Fostering the sharing of data
• Being up-to-date regarding the nowadays technologies.
• Being able to deal with public use as well as confidential use.
• Acting as a main stakeholder of this nowadays and highly dynamical business.
