The purpose of ELIXIR-STEERS is to enable federated data visits and large-scale, cross-border analysis in the life sciences by users across the whole European Research Area.
Objective 1: Partner with user communities to create a toolkit for robust, reproducible, and green software and
workflows that allow life-scientists to benefit from open science practices in the emerging European federated
data landscape.
Objective 2: Enable the landscape for cross-border data analysis in the life sciences by embedding common
practice across the whole European Research Area via effective national ELIXIR Nodes.
Objective 3: Partner in Europe and internationally for global competitiveness and sustainability .

- Five selected core Communities (3D-Bioinfo, IDP, Single Cell Omics, Systems Biology, Biodiversity)
- Strategy for inclusion of credit for research assets (M3.1) serves as the foundation for the recommended recognition framework, part of the best-practices toolkit.
- Software Management Plan (SMP) related best practice resources (aligned with WP2) were collected
- Further interactions defining greening strategies and indicators are represented in M3.4 and are being implemented in workflow management systems

- Deposit of ELITMa new training materials in an open access repository and register in TeSS and the customised programme on the implementation of training skills for research infrastructure. is in progress to capture RI training for management skills and training skills

- Held 6 Innovation and Industry Group meetings, a dedicated All Hands industry workshop and ongoing Hub–Node communications, resulting in alignment on scientific priorities and an initial map of ELIXIR innovation success stories.
- mapping potential members and national bioinformatics societies in ESFRI countries to support future engagement.
- Collaboration Strategies have been concluded with two priority RIs for ELIXIR: Instruct ERIC and EuroBioImaging
workflows that allow life-scientists to benefit from open science practices in the emerging European federated
data landscape.
