Report on co-creation sessions with the other 4H actors

Report on the multi-actor co-creation sessions, which starting from the consumers’ needs, understandings and perceived risks and benefits of the Biotech Co-Creation Cases, will probe for the needs and challenges of the different actors to ensure an improved innovation uptake of the biotech solutions. Concrete measures and principles will be put forward by the partners, starting from the results and outcomes of the co-creation sessions with consumers, and will be challenged and optimised during these co-creation sessions. If necessary, separate co-creation sessions will be set-up with a specific group of actors (e.g. policy makers, to grasp their needs and perspectives) or break-out sessions will be set up. In addition, narratives and wordings will be developed in preparation of these co-creation sessions, based on the understandings and terminologies that proved engaging and understandable to consumers, from the sessions in T2.2 and the ToC assessment. These narratives and wordings will also be challenged and optimised during the co-creation sessions with the other 4H actors, fostering an improved knowledge exchange between the actors in the 4H, to achieve better-informed decision-making and increase trust.T2.3 Qualitative, regional co-creation sessions

The qualitative consumer co-creation session will be thoroughly analysed by Alice, supported by the respective clusters, VIB and LAMA. The combined results and analyses of the co-creation sessions with consumers will provide insightful knowledge about consumer acceptance of the Biotech Co-creation Cases and of different types of biotechnological applications in general. The analyses will provide further understanding of the perceived risks and benefits of these biotech applications, giving the necessary input to deepen the Risk-Benefit Assessments of the biotech cases.T2.2 Qualitative consumer co-creation sessions

Regional and summarising reports on the quantitative consumer validation

Report on the validation and testing of concepts sin a statistically sound way, via an online tool and app, linked to a broad community of consumers all over Europe. Building on the qualitative research with consumers in T2.2 and the challenged principles and measures, and narratives co-developed with the other 4H actors in T2.3, the online tool will enable to gather feedback and data from consumers all over Europe. For this a online survey will be developed, based on different types of questions, enabling the testing and validation of the measures, guidelines and narratives. The ToC will illustrate pathways to impact and will discuss the main assumptions at the basis of the intervention strategy, highlight risks and enabling factors. The ToC will be presented in both visual and narrative formats. The ToC will also be a dialogue tool, affecting the project’s deployment by: (i) creating common knowledge by conducting desk research to focus outcomes and impacts; (ii) defining the common intervention logic by conducting interviews and workshops with the B-TRUST partners; (iii) developing the ToC; and (iv) updating and finetuning the ToC throughout the project.T1.1 Design and continuous updating of ToC

Outline of co-creation trajectories

With the regional clusters, the co-creation methodology will be tailored to the national/regional context, and it will be determined which Biotech Co-Creation Case will be deployed in each of the involved regions. As explained in section 1.2, a design thinking methodology will be implemented in these regional co-creation trajectories, which will consist of co-creation sessions involving consumers with different backgrounds, ages and levels of knowledge and expertise on the topics, and the other 4H actors in subsequent co-creation sessions and exchanges. Finetuned co-creation methodology

In synergy with the initial ToC design phase, Alice will lead T1.3 to provide the co-creation methodology that will be applied in B-TRUST. It will be finetuned (i) against a gap-analysis of previous co-creation and stakeholder engagement projects, and initiatives within the bioeconomy, (ii) against a benchmarking of extant co-creation and stakeholder engagement principles, and (iii) in discussion with the Advisory Board of SSH experts, to arrive at SSH-validated generic principles for the co-creation trajectories.T1.3 Finetuning of co-creation methodology
