Resultado final
This deliverable presents a systematic scouting approach to consolidate existing roadmaps and scout technologies and projects. Based on this taxonomy it will derive a categorisation of the advanced/disruptive aircraft concepts, architectures and technologies from tasks 3.1 and 3.2 in terms of aerodynamics, structural, systems and propulsion technologies and their associated benefits. Linked to the EU Impact Monitor project.
State of the art review of aviation climate impact assessment (se abrirá en una nueva ventana)This deliverable developed a draft methodology to collect, structure and analyze the SOTA in previous and ongoing EU-funded actions and research projects as well as other national and international previous and ongoing actions. This methodology will be based on a dedicated taxonomy that will develop a dataset of projects in order to rank them according to their relevance to the climate impact assessment topic. A first validation of this methodology will be implemented by applying it to a reduced set of relevant projects. Based on the outcomes of the first run we provide a refinement of the draft procedure and deliver the final methodology that will be applied to the overall dataset of project relevant to the climate impact assessment. This final SOTA evaluation will support the identification of knowledge gaps, barriers, and needs for research in view of the climate impact assessment, to orient more appropriately the technology research streams for future green and zero-emission aircraft.
Climate metrics, differences between simplified and advanced methods, and recommendations (se abrirá en una nueva ventana)This deliverable will update description of candidate physical climate metrics, additionally comprising a description on underlying assumptions making transparent influence of definitions applied in the various climate metrics. Strengths and weaknesses of individual definitions will be presented, as well as requirements on input data. Herewith, recommendations on usage of appropriate physical climate metrics will be provided and explained in detail. Furthermore, it will illustrate advantages as well as limitations and challenges when using simplified metrics, compared to more detailed methodologies by application to selected use cases. Dedicated used cases will be selected and described, where both methodologies will be applied and compared in order to illustrate limitations but also strenght of methodologies, and findings will be explained in detail.
Plan for the communication dissemination and exploitation of results (se abrirá en una nueva ventana)The communication, dissemination, and exploitation strategy will be established at the project's commencement, and it will remain a dynamic framework that adapts to evolving needs and opportunities throughout the project's lifecycle, ensuring its continued relevance and effectiveness in achieving project objectives. Regular reviews and updates will be conducted to optimize its impact.
Advanced/disruptive aircraft concepts and architectures, purpose-built research infrastructures, and advanced aeronautical research and technology (se abrirá en una nueva ventana)This deliverable consists of two main parts, presenting the outcomes of task 3.1 and task 3.2, respectively. The first part provides a comprehensive literature review and analysis of existing advanced/disruptive aircraft concepts/architectures publicly available, and of recent and on-going research programmes related to such concepts and architectures. The second part provides a list and short description of advanced and purpose-built research facilities or test aircraft/demonstrators (worldwide) as well as a compilation of relevant aeronautical research activities and technology areas (not only from the aviation community but, if relevant, also from other sectors).
Ethics & data management (se abrirá en una nueva ventana)This deliverable will report on the ethics & data management.
Knowledge gaps and research roadmap on aviation impacts on climate (se abrirá en una nueva ventana)This deliverable will consist of an analysis of the existing lacks regarding the understanding, the modelling or the validation of the models and simulation tools for the study of non-CO2 effects and the quantification of their impacts. These lacks may concern physical understanding, available data for model validation of characterisation of the inputs required for the model. The task will also address the gaps for the analysis of local air quality. Based on the previous analysis, this deliverable will also propose a roadmap for the research required for closing (or reducing) the gaps preventing an accurate assessment of non-CO2 effects.
