La solución para el trastorno por estrés postraumático es un gran avance en salud mental
La carga del trastorno por estrés postraumático (TEPT) pesa sobre innumerables personas, afectando a su vida cotidiana y a su bienestar mental. Los tratamientos tradicionales suelen tener efectos secundarios adversos, por lo que los pacientes buscan soluciones más eficaces y tolerables. Con esta idea en mente, ReST Therapeutics, una empresa biotecnológica francesa, puso en marcha el proyecto FENM4PTSD, financiado por el Consejo Europeo de Innovación, con el objetivo de desarrollar terapias innovadoras. El proyecto, dirigido a trastornos complejos del sistema nervioso central como el TEPT, pretende revolucionar los métodos de tratamiento y dar esperanzas a quienes se enfrentan a sus efectos debilitantes. Su principal candidato, el fármaco neuroprotector FENM, promete ofrecer alivio sin los inconvenientes de las opciones actuales, lo cual supone un importante paso adelante en la atención sanitaria mental.
Objetivo
ReST Therapeutics is a French biotech company founded late 2020 that develops breakthrough therapies to treat complex central nervous system disorders, in particular, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) under its various forms followed by Alzheimer Disease (AD).
Our lead candidate - FENM is a novel and proprietary chemical entity (NCE) targeting specifically a subtype of NMDA receptor (involved in synaptic plasticity) in order to facilitate stress release and neuroprotection without triggering adverse side effects of current NMDA targeting drugs. FENM will enter First-in-Human in June 2023 to initiate the clinical demonstration on PTSD.
ReST is also advancing new compounds to generate a robust library of candidates and generalize its NMDAr subtype modulation platform with the potential to treat other neurologic disorders. With the EIC support, ReST will bring FENM to clinical PoC (PhIIb) by 2027, secure a partnership with a pharma company and develop new small molecules to expand its pipeline.
