Resumen del contexto y de los objetivos generales del proyecto

Needle-based injections have revolutionised healthcare by providing an efficient delivery method for medications, such as vaccines. However, there are significant drawbacks associated with using needles on a societal, environmental, and technological level. Needle phobia and infection risks can significantly impact patient compliance and safety with medical treatments, while millions of used needles contaminate the environment every day. Lastly, the effectiveness of certain drugs increases when injected intradermally, but targeting the dermis is challenging. With iSENS, we want to revolutionise the experience of people who receive and perform frequent injections. To this end, we are developing and commercialising a portable and needle-free injector called BoldJet. Through the technological breakthrough we present in this project safer, more effective, and minimally invasive injections that do not contaminate our environment. This patient-friendly technology will result in a positive effect on society, allowing millions of people to receive better and more personalised healthcare.

Trabajo realizado desde el comienzo del proyecto hasta el final del período abarcado por el informe y los principales resultados hasta la fecha

Started different experimental work in our new lab facility. We have hired additional engineers to strengthen the technical team. Together with them we have been working on further development of the jetting and injection technology and related aspects. Furthermore, validation studies have been performed using our prototype device. On a regulatory and business perspective, we have improved our strategy and roadmap towards first market access. Most of the preliminary results are confidential and will be disclosed at a later stage.

We set up a new office and lab facility for the FlowBeams team to work on the further development of the technology. The development of the injection technology has been speeded up. Collaboration with the University of Twente has led to two scientific manuscripts which are currently in preparation for publication.
From a business perspective, we gained more traction in the cosmetic industry, also emphasized by the CES Innovation Award 2025 in Beauty & Personal Care category.
As the project is still running, most of the preliminary results are confidential and will be disclosed at a later stage.
