A transfer of knowledge and technology for investigating gender-based inappropriate social interactions in the Metaverse

Project description

Boosting NKUA’s research potential in extended reality

Transfer of knowledge and skills is crucial particularly in cutting-edge fields like extended reality. The EU-funded META-TOO project will bring together expertise from distinguished European institutions in this field. France’s INRIA and Spain’s IDIBAPS (mentor institutions) will be partnering with the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) to enhance its capabilities. This collaboration aims to transfer vital skills and knowledge, reinforcing NKUA’s research management and administrative competencies. As a widening country institution, NKUA will benefit from this mentorship, strengthening its innovation potential and potentially leading to significant advancements in Greece.

Objective

The META-TOO proposal underscores the knowledge and skills transfer from two distinguished European institutions, INRIA and IDIBAPS, each renowned for its research contributions in the digital forefront, to the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), Greece, serving as the coordinating institution representing a Widening country (Greece). Specifically, both INRIA (The French National Institute for Research in Computer Science and Automation) and IDIBAPS (Fundaci de Recerca Clnic Barcelona in Spain) have earned global recognition for their outstanding contributions to Extended Reality (XR) research. It is precisely within this domain that we have elected to focus the support of INRIA and IDIBAPS (henceforth called mentors) for the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (coordinator), with a concerted effort aimed at reinforcing research management and administrative competencies, alongside enhancing research and innovation capabilities.
