Periodic Reporting for period 1 - DemosAxia (ADVANCED SYNERGIES FOR PILOT DEMONSTRATION TOWARDS INDUSTRIAL INNOVATION IN WIDENING COUNTRIES)

DemosAxia offers a coherent package of actions, in terms of strategy development, innovation, training and outreach activities. Overall, DemosAxia aims to improve the high-added value products/services available in South-East and South-West Europe. A project like DemosAxia can maximize the added value and impact of projects IMOCO4.E and GRAPHEYE, including their platforms, networks, associations, and other initiatives consisting of identifying and leveraging the resources and creating new sources of value that form the base for building synergy. Connections and actions that are going to be developed between the DemosAxia consortium and similar or related projects or initiatives, will add value to the results generated already by previous or ongoing projects. The synergies will help in spreading the project’s results to a broader audience but also to learn from other projects’ findings. Interaction and exploitation of synergies with other projects and initiatives will be exploited to increase the outreach of potential stakeholders by organize joint events, exchange knowledge, experience, and best practices, and stimulate discussions among key players.
During the first reporting period (June 2024–August 2025), DemosAxia progressed according to plan, establishing the technical, managerial, and scientific foundations required to achieve its objectives. The consortium advanced the development of pilot demonstrators in microelectronics, photonics, and sensing, validating specifications and demonstrating the feasibility of wafer inspection using femtosecond-laser and multiphoton imaging techniques for non-destructive defect detection. Knowledge-transfer and training frameworks were launched, including the Innovator’s Mindset methodology and the Staff Exchange Plan, fostering skills in innovation, risk management, and technology transfer. Analytical work on market positioning, resource mapping, and customer requirements support the technical relevance and future validation of demonstrators. All work packages advanced on schedule, with no significant deviations from the Description of Action.
During the first reporting period, DemosAxia established the necessary technical and organisational groundwork for its objectives. Initial demonstrator activities confirmed the feasibility of the proposed photonic and microelectronic approaches, and preliminary validation steps provided useful technical insights. Training and knowledge-transfer frameworks were launched, enhancing collaboration and methodological alignment across partners. The project has created the basis for further development of pilot systems and innovation-skills training. The expected impacts remain focused on reinforcing regional research capacity and preparing conditions for stronger industry–academia cooperation. Further work will be required to validate the demonstrators under real operating conditions, consolidate stakeholder engagement, and refine exploitation and commercialisation strategies in the next period.
