BRINGING CLOSER RESEARCH TO ALL, CREATING DRIVE FOR STUDYING STEM AREAS AND CHOSING A SCIENCE CARRIER

Periodic Reporting for period 1 - Research2ALL (BRINGING CLOSER RESEARCH TO ALL, CREATING DRIVE FOR STUDYING STEM AREAS AND CHOSING A SCIENCE CARRIER)

Período documentado: 2024-05-01 hasta 2025-01-31

Reseach2ALL aims to bring closer researchers’ careers to the public (focusing on young people) by offering a deep understanding of research and innovation through interactive programmes and communication activities. Reseach2ALL aims at creating environmental consciousness in society showing the key role of research and innovation in addressing local and global societal challenges and their essential part of our everyday life.
Through raising awareness of circular economy processes the project will contribute to the objectives of European Green Deal and the call of MSCA and Citizens 2023.
Bay Zoltán Nonprofit Ltd. for Applied Research and Hungarian Association of Environmental Enterprises will use their wide range of experiences in scientific communication to attract the most possible participants – pupils, students, teachers, adults, families, researchers, experts and professionals.
During the Reseach2ALL programmes researchers, innovators, and scientists (e.g. MSCA grant holders) will be involved with special attention to female participants and researchers. The project will cover 3 big cities in Hungary with 3500-4000 visitors in the Nights, where next to green topics (e.g. EU-corner, European Green Deal aims and their achievement; raw materials, circular economy, smart solutions, e-mobility, research careers) all separate venues will develop a lot of programmes introducing their professional specialization themes in research. Researchers at school will include a Scientific Roadshow throughout the country visiting small town schools; supplemented with a nationwide scientific award competition.
Through its awareness-raising campaign, Reseach2ALL delivers the main message of ERN to as many members of society as possible by offering interactive social events (e.g. Science Cafés, round table discussions with professionals, ad hoc science shows), with the use of modern communication tools (streaming, social media, podcasts, etc.) and a strong media campaign.
The awareness campaign for the first project period was organised and implemented using on-line and off-line communication tools. The consortium organised the Researchers’ Night and the first 10 sites of the Researchers at Schools programme were visited in 2024. The researchers’ work and the activities of the participating institutions, partners were presented during the events with the pop-up science actions, on-site presentations and experiments, discussions with researchers. During the events the visitors and participants could meet and discuss personally with the researchers and participated actively in the programmes.
The main subject of the Researchers’ Night and the Researchers at Schools activities were sustainability and protection of environment. The event partners, exhibitors work in the field of environment and sustainability, most of them are members of the Hungarian Association of Environmental Enterprises.
During the awareness campaign and the events Bay Zoltan Nonprofit Ltd. and Hungarian Association of Environmental Enterprises communicated their activities, the expertise and knowledge of the organisations and the partners.
The events, the activities and the results were published on public and open information and communication channels.
In case of the Research2ALL project, the scientific impact is mainly in connection with the dissemination and communication activities, the awareness campaign and the organisation of events.
In 2024, during the Researchers’ Night and the awareness campaign, the following results were reached: cca. 2 000 participants in person at the sites in Budapest, Miskolc and Szeged, cca. 2 200 participants on the dedicated tram line during the Researchers’ Night in Budapest, online videos, posts and advertisements were viewed cca. 1 200 000 times, cca. 300 000 unique users saw the content on Facebook, about 10 000 clicks on the online content.
Within the Researchers at Schools programme activities until the end of the reporting period 10 sites were visited by experts and researchers to promote science and researcher as a profession.
