The European Researchers' Night in Bosnia and Herzegovina 2024-2025

Project description

Connecting communities, uniting researchers and the public

The European Researchers’ Night events play a crucial role in bridging the gap between researchers and the general public, demonstrating their impact on daily life. The EU-funded RiNG-24-25 project will organise the European Researchers’ Night in Bosnia and Herzegovina from 2024 to 2025. The aim is to foster connections between researchers and the public, raise awareness of research and innovation, inspire young individuals to pursue research careers, and bring researchers directly into schools and kindergartens. RiNG-24-25 also seeks to promote European research and educational programmes. It supports Bosnia and Herzegovina’s integration into the European Research Area and facilitates the country’s path towards EU membership. The project plans to reach over 1 million people through its awareness campaign.

Objective

The European Researchers' Night in Bosnia and Herzegovina 2024-2025 (RiNG-24-25) aim is to bring researchers closer to the general public and to shape a deeper connection between research, creativity and entrepreneurship. RiNG-24-25 will be a flagship science promotion event in BiH with the main focus on increasing awareness of research and innovation potentials in BiH, supporting public recognition of researchers and science-driven entrepreneurs, highlighting research impact on people’s daily life, and encouraging young people to embark on research careers. It will promote the European research and education programmes, inclusion in the European Research Area, and support the BiH path towards the EU.

The main objectives are:
– Enhance researchers’ public recognition.
– Increase awareness about research results, especially regarding the daily lives of citizens.
– Stimulate interest in research careers, in particular amongst young people facing a career choice.
– Strengthen the connection between research and education by bringing researchers to schools and kindergartens.

RiNG-24-25 slogan is “Naukatorium: Bridge the Mind”, creating a physical and online space for knowledge to connect the minds within the BiH and across the borders.

The RiNG is a multidisciplinary STEAM event, aiming to highlight people in Science, Technology, Entrepreneurship, Arts and Makers in BiH and the Western Balkan region. 3 organizations will join forces to bring the science festival to 3 main locations in Sarajevo, Banja Luka and Mostar, and involve another 8 cities in the satellite events.

RiNG is aiming to reach over 1 million people during the awareness raising campaign and involve at least 25.000 direct participants in the organized events each year.
