Report on the secondary analyses of existing comparative data, with a special focus on generational differences– guidelines for other WPs of the project. Using data from the European Social Survey (ESS) modules 6 and 10 (on democracy), and the World Value Survey (WVS) for unveiling Europeans’ attitudes concerning democracy and its alternatives, as well as V-Dem project and EIU Democracy Index and Freedom House data. Specific focus on attitudes, and evaluations of democracy on the pan-European level and in particular countries.

Using established horizon-scanning methods (e.g., desk research) plus semi-automated text mining), an identification of high impact uncertainties within a dynamic environment of social, technological, ecological, economic, political, legal and ethical factors (e.g., STEEPLE framework) shaping the futures of democracy in Europe. Horizon scanning activities will pay specific attention to trends and uncertainties related to gender dimensions.

Two draft manuscripts for publication on the knowledge base of democracy innovations and secondary analysis on generational and socioeconomic differences. Manuscript 1 will utilise rich historical, social, and economic studies and the knowledge base from Task 1.3. Manuscript 2 will be related to the secondary analysis from Task 1.2.

Data management plan and open science and research ethics and integrity plan. Will follow the Commission’s FAIR Data Management Plan (DMP) template and outline data generated, whether and how it will be exploited or made accessible for verification and re-use, and how it will be curated and preserved. The DMP will be updated with project interim and final reviews, and over the course of the project whenever significant changes arise (e.g., new data, changes in consortium policies, changes in consortium composition and external factors).
