Project description
Securing cryptography in the quantum era
As quantum computing advances, traditional cryptographic methods are at risk, leaving sensitive data vulnerable to quantum-based attacks. With this in mind, the ERC-funded PQSCAR project aims to develop cryptographic solutions resilient to these threats, focusing on post-quantum algorithms that can withstand side-channel attacks. By creating a comprehensive framework to assess the strength of these algorithms, PQSCAR combines advanced mathematical models, simulation tools, and hardware testing to identify and counteract vulnerabilities in existing systems. Collaboration with industry and academia ensures that the solutions are effective across diverse platforms. Ultimately, PQSCAR seeks to establish robust standards for post-quantum cryptography, securing digital information in the quantum era.
Objective
In the rapidly evolving digital age, the advent of quantum computing poses a significant threat to current cryptographic standards, leaving sensitive information vulnerable to quantum-based attacks. This project addresses the urgent need for resilient cryptographic solutions capable of withstanding quantum threats, focusing on developing and validating post-quantum cryptographic algorithms that are resistant to side-channel attacks.
Our solution involves the creation of a robust framework for evaluating the resilience of cryptographic algorithms against quantum and side-channel attacks. By leveraging advanced mathematical models, simulation tools, and hardware implementations, we aim to identify and mitigate vulnerabilities in existing cryptographic systems, ensuring a high level of security in the quantum computing era. Collaboration with industry partners and academic institutions will play a crucial role in validating the effectiveness of our solutions across different platforms and use cases.
This project not only aims to advance the field of cryptography in response to quantum computing challenges but also to establish a set of standards and best practices for developing and implementing post-quantum cryptographic solutions, ensuring the long-term security of digital information.
