HYCELAND : Iceland Small Hydrogen Valley

Project description

A holistic approach to building a hydrogen ecosystem

Hydrogen is emerging as a vital solution for reducing harmful emissions and advancing clean energy in various industries. As countries seek sustainable alternatives to fossil fuels, hydrogen offers a scalable option for decarbonisation. The EU-funded HYCELAND project aims to establish a small hydrogen valley in Iceland. The initiative is led by Iceland’s national power company, in partnership with a global leader in industrial gases, which together have established a consortium of partners to cover the entire value chain. HYCELAND will produce hydrogen to serve end users across mobility, industry and the power sector.

Objective

HYCELAND is a Small Hydrogen Valley project in Iceland, which will produce hydrogen to serve end users across mobility, industry and power sector applications. The project is being led by Landsvirkjun (the national power company of Iceland) in partnership with Linde (one of the world's leading industrial gas suppliers), who have established a consortium of partners to cover the entire value chain.
