Nuada's novel optimised MOF reactors for CO2 capture

Project description

Cutting-edge carbon capture for hard-to-abate industries

Hard-to-abate industries remain major contributors to global carbon emissions, posing a significant challenge to climate goals. Traditional carbon capture methods often struggle with efficiency and deployability at scale in these sectors. The EIC-funded NUACO2 project aims to change this. Led by Belfast-based technology provider Nuada, the project is pioneering their next-generation point-source carbon capture solution tailored for foundational industries. Central to NUACO2 is the development and validation of innovative metal-organic framework reactor designs for faster and more efficient carbon capture while paving the way for upscaling to full industrial deployment. By advancing this cutting-edge technology, NUACO2 will make a crucial step forward towards significantly reducing emissions where it is most difficult to do so.

Objective

Nuada is a carbon capture technology provider based in Belfast (United Kingdom) that is dedicated to decarbonizing foundational and hard-to-abate industries with its next-generation point-source capture process. This project will focus on the development, validation and upscaling of novel optimised MOF reactor designs that will accelerate full-scale deployment opportunities.

Project’s keywords as indicated by the project coordinator. Not to be confused with the EuroSciVoc taxonomy (Fields of science)

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
