Agri-food research and innovation event

The Polish Presidency of the EU will host a high-level conference in Warsaw to explore BIOEAST research and innovation for the green and digital transformation of the agri-food sector. The EU-funded RIconfPL25EU project will finance the event, in collaboration with the European Commission, the Standing Committee on Agricultural Research, and the BIOEAST initiative. The conference is expected to gather between 200 and 250 participants, including representatives from EU Member States, Members of the European Parliament, experts, youth from the R&I community across Europe, and attendees from Moldova, Ukraine, and the Western Balkans. The event will focus on advancing sustainable food systems and bioeconomy development, offering a platform for showcasing scientific achievements and innovative solutions in these areas.

Objective

"The Polish Presidency of the Council of the EU 2025 (Polish EU Presidency) aims to organize in Warsaw a high-level conference about Central and Eastern European / BIOEAST research and innovation for strengthening green and digital transformation of the agri-food sector, innovative sustainable food systems and bioeconomy development. The event will take place on June 11-12, 2025. This proposal aims to support the organization of the Presidency event on June by financing the costs. The high-level conference will be organized in collaboration with the European Commission, the Standing Committee on Agricultural Research and the BIOEAST Initiative. The event is expected to attract 200-250 participants, including Member States, Members of the European Parliament, experts and interested citizens, including youth representatives, from the R&I community across Europe. Additionally, representatives from the Western Balkans countries, Ukraine and Moldova will participate. Presidency event will be an opportunity to provide knowledge exchange at Member State and EU level on the role of research and innovation in the challenges of green and digital transformation of the agri-food sector and on the scientific and innovative basis for sustainable food systems and the development of the bioeconomy. The event will be a space for presenting scientific achievements, as well as exchanging practical ideas and innovative solutions. In addition, the event will help further strengthen science policy interface for improved food systems governance, bioeconomy deployment and the green and digital transitions of the agri-food sector. The event will also promote the achievements of Food 2030, Bioeconomy Strategy update, Horizon Europe Partnerships until 2025 as well as the Horizon Europe Mission ""A Soil Deal for Europe"". The event will be opportunity to contribute to the potential Europe-wide R&I initiative on advancing sustainable natural resource management, food systems security and the deployment of the bioeconomy, harnessing the potential of Central and Eastern Europe."
