High-level Conference on Reform of Research Assessment

Project description

Conference for reform in research assessment

In today’s knowledge-based economies, universities are increasingly expected to share their research and innovations. It is essential to align incentives and evaluation metrics with goals that encourage the wider impact and adoption of research-driven products and recommendations. The EU-funded CeRRA project will host a conference in collaboration with the Danish Presidency and the European Commission. This event will highlight the need to reform research assessment and showcase progress made by the Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment (CoARA). CoARA is a group of organisations dedicated to transforming how research, researchers, and institutions are evaluated. Additionally, the conference will explore the main drivers of change shaping the broader ecosystem of science, innovation, and technology.

Objective

In today’s knowledge economies, universities are expected to translate and disseminate research and innovation broadly, contributing to growth, competitiveness, better regulation, and quality of life. To stimulate the broader impact and uptake of research-based products and advice, incentives and metrics need to be aligned. At this conference, the organisers together with the Danish Presidency and the European Commission will address the need for reforming research assessment, present progress on CoARA, and highlight drivers of change in the broader ecosystem of science, innovation, and technology.
