NEXT-GEN URBAN FREIGHT LOGISTICS FOR NET ZERO EMISSIONS THROUGH INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS

Objective

NEXTLOGIC is a collaborative, digitally empowered platform that drives the co-design and co-creNEXTLOGIC is a collaborative, digitally empowered platform that drives the co-design and co-creation of transport, mobility, and logistics solutions for cities and their stakeholders, including citizens, businesses, and authorities. It leverages an advanced Digital Twin (DT) enhanced with eXtended Reality (XR) and gamification to simulate, assess, and present urban scenarios in an immersive, data-driven environment, fostering informed decision-making.

By integrating real-time data from Floating Car Data, IoT sensors, and historical datasets, NEXTLOGIC will dynamically models traffic, logistics, and urban space usage. It will optimize urban planning through geospatial analytics and adaptive space management, transforming logistics with smart loading zones and mobile microhubs with electric cargo bikes, enhancing last-mile delivery efficiency through dynamic and multi-functional urban space.

NEXTLOGIC will enhance accessibility and optimize city-wide logistics by integrating multimodal transport hubs, real-time data, and urban surroundings, reimagining cities as a hub-and-spoke system that connects services within a 15-minute radius. Additionally, it will incentive mechanisms and reward schemes aiming at better urban public space connectivity and accessibility, use of the infrastructure and the vehicles, reduced need and better management of public space, and creation of smart energy solutions that will close the gap between where the (green) energy is produced and where and when it is consumed.

NEXTLOGIC will deploy pilots in eight European cities, bringing together 34 multidisciplinary partners from 13 countries to create more connected, accessible, and efficient urban environments. By optimizing infrastructure, reducing public space demand, and enabling sustainable, data-driven mobility solutions, NEXTLOGIC aims to transform urban logistics and mobility across Europe.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Keywords

Project’s keywords as indicated by the project coordinator. Not to be confused with the EuroSciVoc taxonomy (Fields of science)

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
