COdesign urban REalm & dynamic Spaces management for cognitive & socially connected cities

Objective

Cities are under increasing pressure from rapid urbanization, rising mobility and energy demands, and the need for climate-neutral solutions to efficiently design and manage urban space. COREspaces will transform urban spaces by addressing critical challenges related to space scarcity, mobility and energy efficiency and sustainability. It integrates advanced digital tools (e.g. AI-assisted planning, Digital Twins) to enable cities to manage urban space, optimize mobility infrastructure, increase energy efficiency and enhance urban resilience. The project’s emphasis on citizens’ engagement and inclusive decision-making, leading to equitable and liveable urban environments while contributing to climate-neutral urban spaces, aligning with EU sustainability goals.
Based on vast pre-existing mobility and energy innovations specialized in citizens driven co-creation and urban space design, the project introduces COREInnovations, a set of adaptable digital and physical tools that integrate AI, DTs, and participatory planning to optimize urban space use and support climate neutrality. Real-world demonstrations hosted in Living Lab from 9 European cities will pave the way towards data-driven and human-centric urban transformation.
The project fosters cross-sectorial collaboration between cities, public authorities, citizens, academy and industry partners to ensure evidence-based decision-making for sustainable urban transitions, aligned with the EU Green Deal and Climate Neutrality goals of cities while supporting the objectives of the Work Programme.
The project addresses challenges by developing practical methodologies and robust solutions and governance frameworks to speed up decision making; innovative strategies for urban space reallocation and dynamic curbside management; and financial mechanisms, guidelines & blueprints to secure replicability and to enable “future ready”, CO2 neutral and climate resilient symbiotic urban spaces for the cognitive cities of Europe.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Keywords

Project’s keywords as indicated by the project coordinator. Not to be confused with the EuroSciVoc taxonomy (Fields of science)

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
