AI-based clinical trial for immunology
The immune system and its disorders are highly complex, making them difficult to model and posing significant challenges for drug development. Almost half of clinical trial failures in immunology and inflammation are due to insufficient efficacy stemming from the limited representativeness of preclinical models. However, the rise of AI presents a transformative opportunity to tackle this issue. The EU-funded PRISM project aims to develop a proprietary multimodal foundation model tailored for immunology. Supported by the EIC Accelerator project, this advanced AI technology will enhance preclinical methods and validate the efficacy of new treatments. By improving clinical trial success rates, this innovation paves the way for precision medicine in immunology and inflammation.
Objective
The immune system and its disorders are particularly complex to model, posing significant challenges for drug development. Due to
the limited representativeness of preclinical models, nearly half of clinical trial failures in immunology and inflammation stem from
insufficient efficacy.
The rise of artificial intelligence capabilities offers a transformative opportunity to address this issue. With the support of the EIC
Accelerator project, France-based start-up Scienta Lab aims to develop a proprietary multimodal foundation model specially
designed for immunology and inflammation. This advanced AI technology will enhance traditional preclinical approaches by
validating the efficacy of new assets at the preclinical stage. By improving clinical trial success rates of innovative best-in-class assets,
this innovation paves the way for precision medicine in immunology and inflammation.
