Objective
Quantum technologies (QT) offer transformative applications, from secure key generation to quantum computers and simulators that surpass current high-performance computers. Involving Widening countries in the development of these crucial emerging technologies can help narrow the gap with advanced EU members, drive a technological leap, and contribute to transforming the economy into a knowledge-based system. Despite Poland's strong theoretical foundation and potential, barriers hinder its participation in the quantum-technological race. Currently, no independent unit in Poland focuses primarily on QT. To address this gap, we propose developing the CTP PAS into a Center of Excellence (CoE), aligned with the Quantum Flagship pillars, in collaboration with renowned partners: ICFO, the University of Stuttgart, and the University of Warsaw. This will establish the first autonomous research institute in Poland devoted to QT. The CoE aims to achieve research excellence exploring the latest research trends, such as Rydberg atoms, exciton-polaritons, and developing certification methods for emerging quantum technologies. Within the Teaming for Excellence project along with complementary funding from national sources and building on the already existing CTP PAS’s potential, the CoE will implement organizational changes, boost innovation potential and train a young generation of excellent researchers, contributing to changing R&I culture in Poland, reverse brain drain effect. It will position Poland as one of the leaders in quantum technology research and innovation.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.

Net EU financial contribution. The sum of money that the participant receives, deducted by the EU contribution to its linked third party. It considers the distribution of the EU financial contribution between direct beneficiaries of the project and other types of participants, like third-party participants.
