BOOSTING AND MAINSTREAMING THE BIOECONOMY AND TRANSFORMATIVE GOVERNANCE FOR FOOD SYSTEMS AND BIODIVERSITY

Project description

Denmark’s Presidency of the Council will boost bioeconomy

Denmark holds the Presidency of the Council of the European Union in the second half of 2025. As part of the EU-funded Presidency Event DK project, a conference will be organised on 2-3 December on bioeconomy and transformative governance. The first day will mark a key moment for the launch of the new EU Bioeconomy Strategy, while the second day will focus on transformative governance for food systems and biodiversity. The bioeconomy focuses on using renewable biological resources from land and sea, such as crops, forests, fish, livestock and microorganisms, to produce food, materials and energy. Its advancement is linked to the EU’s green transition.

Objective

Denmark will take on the Presidency of the Council of the European Union in the second half of 2025. Bioeconomy will be a priority for Denmark during the Presidency. The Presidency event described in this proposal will be an opportunity to announce the new EU Bioeconomy Strategy and discuss implementation steps, with the second day of the event focusing on transformative governance for food systems and biodiversity. This proposal describes the concept and organisation of the presidency event.
