Summary of the context and overall objectives of the project

EQTC 2025 was organised as an official event under Denmark’s EU Council Presidency. The conference was co-organised by the European Commission and hosted by the Niels Bohr Institute of the University of Copenhagen, in close collaboration with the Danish Business Authority, the Danish Agency for Higher Education and Science, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark.

Originally launched under the Quantum Flagship – the major European research and innovation initiative in quantum technologies established in 2018 – EQTC has evolved into a key platform for showcasing progress and fostering coordination across Europe’s quantum ecosystem.

The 2025 edition took place from November 10th to 12th at Øksnehallen in Copenhagen, at a pivotal moment for European science, technology, and policy. The conference was positioned between the adoption of the EU Quantum Strategy and the forthcoming EU Quantum Act, providing a timely forum for strategic dialogue across research, industry, and policymaking communities.

EQTC 2025 in numbers

This year’s EQTC reached;

- 1070 participants

- Participants from 39 different countries

- 44 exhibitors

- 132 speakers and panellists

- 37 sessions across three days.

Key Accomplishments

The 2025 conference in Copenhagen attracted a substantial and diverse audience, including leading researchers, established enterprises, and high-level policymakers. This strong turnout reaffirmed EQTC’s role as the central meeting point for Europe’s quantum ecosystem, while also demonstrating its function as a junction for global collaboration, bringing together European stakeholders and international partners around shared priorities in quantum technologies.

The conference provided a valuable platform for the European Commission to present its strategic directions and engage directly with the community. This dialogue supported closer alignment between European policy priorities and the needs and ambitions of both researchers and industry stakeholders.

The exhibition area played a central role, providing companies and organisations with an opportunity to demonstrate prototypes, showcase technological advances and engage with potential partners from across Europe and beyond.

The participants have given overwhelmingly positive feedback on the conference, citing great networking opportunities as well as a diverse and interesting programme.

Progress beyond the state of the art and expected potential impact (including the socio-economic impact and the wider societal implications of the project so far)

EQTC 2025 reinforced Europe’s position as a leading convening platform for the quantum technology community. The strong participation from researchers, industry leaders, and senior policymakers confirmed the conference’s role in aligning scientific, industrial, and governmental priorities. Direct engagement with the European Commission supported a clearer connection between EU policy objectives and the needs of key stakeholders, contributing to more coherent and responsive policy development.
The high demand for exhibition space—expanding from 20 to 36 stands—demonstrated the rapid growth and increasing industrial readiness of the quantum ecosystem. This momentum signals emerging market opportunities and a strengthening innovation pipeline. Participation from international organisations further highlighted Europe’s global relevance and the potential to deepen strategic cooperation with partners outside the EU.
Overall, EQTC 2025’s outcomes support improved policy coordination, increased innovation activity, and accelerated development of a competitive and internationally connected European quantum technology landscape.
