Research Excellence And Career Hub at University of Pau et Pays de l’Adour

Project description

High-quality training for research and leadership excellence

Training and career development opportunities for early-career researchers are essential for strengthening Europe’s research landscape. With the support of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions programme, the REACH-UPPA project will provide training to international highly skilled postdoctoral researchers within the interdisciplinary research environment of the University of Pau and Pays de l'Adour (UPPA) in France. The programme is designed to assist researchers in acquiring the skills needed to conduct independent, high-level research and achieve excellence. It will foster their career development while making a positive impact on research centres, the university and the broader ecosystem, including the local community and the European Research Area (ERA).

Objective

The Research Excellence And Career Hub at University of Pau et Pays de l’Adour (REACH-UPPA) is an ambitious programme offering
quality training to 10 international and highly skilled postdoctoral researchers (PDRs) within UPPA’s interdisciplinary missions. REACHUPPA
will gather the leading expertise from UPPA’s research management services, UPPA’s research units, and their associated
partners, for 5 years, in order to support the post-doctoral researchers in the achievement of excellence in research and leadership.
UPPA has imagined REACH-UPPA keeping in mind the possibilities and significant impact that the recruitment of these talented
young researchers will have in the hosting research units, the University and the territory whilst boosting their own career
advancement towards excellence.
REACH-UPPA is a career development programme through scientific excellence and innovative training, open to top-tier young
researchers regardless their nationality, designed to provide the PDRs with an advanced profile aiming for Excellence. The
programme comprises a tailored training and mentoring programme including acquiring additional skills and qualifications that aim
to enable the researchers to excel with independent research.
UPPA’s values guiding the research activity are (1) reconciling science and society for a sustainable progress and (2) acting within the
territory. These values are declined into five interdisciplinary missions, designed to transcend traditional disciplinary boundaries,
encouraging cross-fertilization and interdisciplinarity between different players and sectors to better grasp the complexity of their
issues.
In order to maximise the candidates’ freedom of choice of their research project, REACH-UPPA will focus on the interdisciplinary
missions and give the choice among 15 different research areas (3 per interdisciplinary mission), led by experienced scientific mentors
that will guide the researchers to the top of their capacities.
