Warsaw Quantum-Nano-Bio-Technology Pole Fellowship Program

Project description

Advanced technologies institutional cluster supports tenure-track pathways in Warsaw

Poland has world-class research institutions, but attracting top international postdoctoral talent and retaining researchers in tenure-track positions remains a challenge. With the support of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions programme, the QNBTechPole project aims to establish a cluster of excellence in quantum technology, nanotechnology and biotechnology across three collaborating Polish Academy of Sciences institutes in Warsaw. Through a rigorous, impartial recruitment process, 16 outstanding postdoctoral researchers will be appointed on three-year fellowships, benefiting from expert mentorship, international secondments and innovative career development training. High-performing fellows will have pathways to tenure-track positions, helping build a sustainable pool of research talent and expertise in these strategically vital fields in Poland.

Objective

The proposal aims to set up a pole of excellence in the three topics of Quantum Technology, Nanotechnology, and Biotechnology at the three closely collaborating Polish Academy of Sciences institutions of the Institute of Physics, the Center For Theoretical Physics, and the Institute of High Pressure Physics in Warsaw, Poland. The pole of excellence will be based on fully impartial recruitment of 16 top quality postdoctoral fellows for 3 year durations, using an innovative and flexible recruitment formula. They will be provided with excellent mentors on-site, top tier mentor-collaborators in overseas institutions and industrial partners to be visited during secondments, as well as top quality innovative career training during their fellowships. A mechanism for retention of well performing and willing participants into tenure-track positions in the host institutions after the fellowship will be provided. The recruitment will be made and other key decisions overseen by an International Steering Committee. The project will be co-financed by funding from the Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
