Objective
Pharos-CY is the AI Factory Antenna of Cyprus, established to accelerate the development and adoption of trustworthy, high-impact artificial intelligence (AI) solutions across the nation’s key sectors: Health, Sustainability, and Culture & Language. Closely aligned with the Greek AI Factory (Pharos) and the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking (JU), Pharos-CY connects local stakeholders (startups, SMEs, public institutions, and researchers) to advanced AI tools, curated datasets, and high-performance computing resources, including access to the DAEDALUS EuroHPC JU system. The initiative will deliver modular AI services, secure data environments, and domain-specific tools tailored to national priorities. In Health, it will support genomics, diagnostics, and digital health systems. In Sustainability, it will enable AI-driven solutions for energy, water, transport, and climate resilience. In Culture & Language, it will preserve and promote Cyprus’ linguistic and cultural heritage through AI-powered applications and language models. Pharos-CY will also establish a national AI training hub, offering tailored programs, workshops, and hackathons to address skill gaps and foster talent. It will promote responsible AI development through alignment with the EU AI Act and GDPR and contribute to the development of Cyprus’ National Data Policy. By integrating with the broader EuroHPC JU and AI Factory ecosystem, Pharos-CY will foster cross-border collaboration, co-develop AI services, and contribute to Common European Data Spaces. Through its one-stop-shop model, it aims to democratize access to AI, strengthen national capacity, and position Cyprus as a regional leader in AI innovation.
