Objective
AIFA-ICE will establish Iceland's national AI Factory Antenna as part of the EuroHPC JU AI Factory ecosystem. Building upon Iceland’s strategic strengths in healthcare, public administration, renewable energy, climate change, manufacturing, and language technologies, AIFA-ICE addresses the AI and HPC needs of startups, SMEs, and public sector organizations (PSOs). The initiative provides seamless access to advanced AI/HPC resources through the LUMI AI Factory (LAIF), complemented by a small-scale local AI system for testing and training. AIFA-ICE will develop tailored, sector-specific AI solutions and data services, enabling Icelandic organizations to adopt cutting-edge, trustworthy, and sovereign AI solutions. It will foster the national AI talent pool via structured training programs, expert consulting, and close collaboration with academic institutions and industry clusters. Aligned with Iceland’s national AI Strategy, Innovation Strategy, Language Technology Programme, and the European AI Act, AIFA-ICE integrates with the wider Nordic and Baltic AI ecosystems, enhancing Europe's global competitiveness in ethical and sustainable AI.
