Objective
The PI proposes to pioneer a radically innovative approach to Algorithmic Game Theory (AGT), the scientific field he
helped found a quarter century ago. The proposed work seeks to replace the now central notion of Nash equilibrium
by a computational conception of “the meaning of the game” that captures, through the mathematics of dynamical
systems, what the players will actually and ultimately do. In addition, the algorithmic nature of markets will be
revisited from this novel point of view, and new types of games and markets will be studied, inspired by the current
computational environment of AI, digital platforms, data markets, and fierce competition. The proposed research has
firm foundations in recent results by the PI and his collaborators, and gives rise to a legion of fascinating new research
directions of critical importance for AGT and TCS at large, including novel facets of Computational Complexity and
algorithms. Progress in these directions will result in a new and productive understanding of today’s computational
and economic environment.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.

Net EU financial contribution. The sum of money that the participant receives, deducted by the EU contribution to its linked third party. It considers the distribution of the EU financial contribution between direct beneficiaries of the project and other types of participants, like third-party participants.
