Support to the SET PLAN communitY for eNERGY Systems

Objective

R&I plays a pivotal role in driving the energy transition forward, as it holds the potential to unlock new possibilities, revolutionise existing infrastructure, and pave the way for a sustainable energy future. The SET Plan was established in 2007 and since the creation of the Energy Union in 2015, it became one of the main instruments of the energy union’s 5th pillar on research, innovation and competitiveness. The implementation of the SET Plan priorities is supported by European Technology and Innovation Platforms (ETIPs), and/or SET Plan Implementation Working Groups (IWGs) and/or similar stakeholder fora, depending on the sector. They bring together relevant stakeholders in key areas from industry, research organisations and, where applicable, SET Plan countries’ government representatives.
SYeNERGYS aims at supporting the SET Plan community related to Energy Systems (Action 4 of the SET Plan) by providing support services to the ETIP “Smart Networks for Energy Transition” (ETIP SNET) and IWG4. It builds upon a proven and solid approach with recognised technical and scientific expertise, and will ensure effective interaction among relevant stakeholders, especially the European Commission.
The consortium brings together 5 beneficiaries from 4 countries (France, Belgium, Italy, Greece) with complementary profiles, with a proven track record in the provision of support to ETIP SNET and IWG4. They will bring in the relevant interdisciplinary expertise to guarantee an efficient handover with the previous secretariat, enhance the engagement of stakeholders, deliver the required reports to contribute to the SET Plan implementation, provide good visibility for ETIP SNET and IWG4 (including by developing synergies with other initiatives and partnerships related to energy systems), and propose options for future continuation of ETIP SNET.
