Solar Thermal Technologies: Support for the Implementation of the SET Plan

Objective

STT4SET is a Coordination and Support Action designed to reinforce the role of solar thermal technologies (STT), both concentrated (CST) and non-concentrated (NCST), as strategic assets for Europe’s clean energy transition. Building on the groundwork of its predecessor project, namely “CST4ALL: Support to the Activities of the Concentrated Solar Thermal Technology Area of the SET Plan”, STT4SET will support the activities of the CST Implementation Working Group under its expanded mandate, covering both CST and NCST, to ensure STT is fully integrated into the European Strategic Energy Technology Plan (SET Plan). In response to emerging European policy priorities and challenges of the European Green Deal, the Green Deal Industrial Plan, the REPowerEU and the Net Zero Industry Act, the project will strengthen stakeholder cooperation, aligning industrial needs and research priorities to better support STT’s role in achieving the EU’s decarbonisation and competitiveness goals. STT4SET will facilitate more synergies across the SET Plan technology sectors, supporting hybridisation and integration pathways that enable wider deployment of STT in Europe, thereby improving energy security, resilience and supply chain independence. Through structured stakeholder engagement, including six targeted online workshops, STT4SET will deliver integrated roadmaps, strengthen cross-sectoral collaboration and provide essential inputs for policymakers and other relevant stakeholders. Special emphasis will be placed on addressing social sciences and humanities (SSH) aspects in EU energy policy challenges related to the solar thermal energy sector.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Keywords

Project’s keywords as indicated by the project coordinator. Not to be confused with the EuroSciVoc taxonomy (Fields of science)

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
