Project description
Empowering and coordinating direct solar fuels innovation
Direct solar fuels (DSF) technologies are highly promising solutions that produce chemical fuels directly from sunlight and abundant molecules such as water, CO2 and nitrogen, helping Europe break our dependence on fossil fuels. To advance this field, the EU-funded SUN2X-SET project will coordinate the first EU Forum on DSF. It will bring together key experts from academia, industry, research, civil society and public authorities. Five working groups will update the current research roadmap and create the first EU Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda for DSF. Ultimately, this initiative will strengthen Europe’s research ecosystem and position the Forum as a recognised European technology and innovation platform within the EU Strategic Energy Technology Plan (SET Plan) framework.
Objective
The SUN2X-SET project aims at establishing the EU Forum for Direct Solar Fuels (DSF), relying on the recognised technical and scientific expertise gathered within the SUNERGY initiative and the SUNER-C project. SUN2X-SET will set up, coordinate and manage Working Groups of 150+ experts from industry, academia, research community, civil society and national authorities, that will contribute to monitor, revise and update the SUNER-C Roadmap and Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA) into the first EU R&I Roadmap and Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA) on DSF, strengthening the DSF R&I ecosystem, and paving the way for the Forum to become a recognised ETIP within the Strategic Energy Technology (SET) Plan framework.
