Next-Generation ATS Platform for Innovative, Climate-Conscious, and Secure Air Traffic Management

Objective

The NATICA project aims to implement the new SESAR service-oriented delivery model, decoupling service provision from local infrastructure to increase inter-operability. This will significantly enhance the capabilities of the next-generation Air Traffic Control (ATC) platform. The possibility to interact across control centres and borders based on open and standardised interfaces will allow for trajectory-based operations in a highly automated environment facilitating early and individual adoptions to each flight. As a result, future flights will operate in a way that utilizes aircraft capabilities as well as sector capacities to the maximum while minimizing the overall climate impact of aviation. Additionally, conflicts can be resolved earlier, providing enhanced safety benefits.
NATICA will accelerate the implementation of the new service delivery model and its supporting regulatory framework, allowing Area Control Centers (ACCs) to scale their service delivery more efficiently. This will enable seamless integration of new technologies and faster innovation. The new model will also increase resilience by allowing services to operate from different locations and dynamically switching locations in case of local system disruptions.
By bringing together industry partners, Air Navigation Service Providers, Airlines, and Research Establishments, NATICA offers a unique opportunity for collaboration on the development and integrated validation of necessary capabilities for the core Air Traffic Services (ATS) platform. This will focus on En-route and Terminal Area Management (TMA) in a real European operational environment.
NATICA will provide mature evolutions of key concepts in line with the published call and the SESAR master plan providing a new inter-operable ATC platform which allows for optimized, highly-automated operations and provides the potential for future innovative developments.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Keywords

Project’s keywords as indicated by the project coordinator. Not to be confused with the EuroSciVoc taxonomy (Fields of science)

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
