Competitiveness of the EuropeaN road Transport Research Ecosystem

Objective

The CENTREe CSA sets out to transform and further develop Europe’s road transport research and innovation ecosystem into a globally competitive, digitally empowered and sustainability-driven landscape. It addresses fragmentation, helps accelerate innovation uptake and fosters strategic collaboration across sectors and borders. It delivers actionable strategies for impactful research and innovation, advances digitalisation for RTR, expands the RTR stakeholder community, strengthens international cooperation, introduces education and (re-)skilling pathways and establishes robust knowledge-sharing mechanisms, being aligned with the European Green Deal. In this context, CENTREe also supports Europe’s shift towards sustainable mobility to ensure long-term resilience, inclusivity and technological leadership. Considering the recommendations of the Draghi Report relating to European competitiveness and in preparation for the future Framework Programme, CENTREe fosters innovation capacity and reinforces technological sovereignty within the European road transport sector. The project is executed by an experienced consortium, each partner bringing the required expertise in current RTR technologies, ensuring a robust and innovative approach to tackling contemporary challenges in road mobility. The consortium combines industry leaders, academic institutions and umbrella organizations that represent a large number of RTR stakeholders, with the key persons very actively involved in relevant Horizon Europe Partnerships, Platforms and Associations, fostering collaborative research.
