Innovative models and integrated digital tools for Battery Electric long-haul LOGistICs

Objective

BELOGIC accelerates the large-scale deployment of battery-electric trucks in long-haul logistics by combining innovative logistic models with advanced digital tools and demonstrating that the cost of operating battery-electric trucks can be lower than operating with ICE vehicles. The project starts from a solid baseline analysis of current missions, barriers, and enablers, and co-designs new operational models with leading logistics service providers. These models are validated through advanced simulations and real-world demonstrations across Europe, covering diverse corridors, vehicle types, and mission profiles.

A portfolio of interoperable digital tools is developed and integrated into existing transport and fleet management systems, enabling efficient planning, relay operations, smart charging, and cross-border services. The demonstrations provide TRL 7–8 evidence of feasibility, while high-resolution data collection and impact assessment deliver robust insights for large-scale replication.

The main participants are 5 leading European logistics operators, who work together with OEMs, RTOs and software providers to ensure that its results translate into actionable deployment strategies, policy recommendations, and commercially viable solutions. By supporting the operations of BEVs with advanced digital tools, BELOGIC reduces the costs, improves the reliability, and cuts the emissions.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Keywords

Project’s keywords as indicated by the project coordinator. Not to be confused with the EuroSciVoc taxonomy (Fields of science)

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
