Intelligent Digital Solutions for Transforming Urban Ecosystems into Resilient Climate-Neutral Entities

Objective

TWIN4CITIES is a groundbreaking initiative designed to support urban environments in their efficient planning and management, transforming them into vibrant, climate-neutral and resilient environments, while facilitating the accomplishment of their environmental goals. The project's primary objective is to deliver an innovative suite of digital AI-based tools, having a city-wide Local Digital Twin as a core, to provide real-time monitoring and response, offer scenarios generation and simulations, optimize the allocation of resources, provide insights and recommendations and enhance decision making. This will occur by harnessing innovative technologies, such as Generative AI, XR-based technologies, Digital Twins, Advanced Cybersecurity and Data analytics, while enabling deep engagement of end-users, citizens and stakeholders throughout the process. At the heart of this initiative is the Quintuple Innovation Helix Framework which identifies urban environments as an ecosystem of collaborating diverse actors from different domains, ensuring that urban transformation is not only technologically advanced, but also socially inclusive, culturally inspired and environmentally sustainable. Furthermore, TWIN4CITIES is designed to address the needs of vulnerable and non-digitalized individuals, incorporating strategies to overcome barriers of participation and ensure that all community members can contribute meaningfully to urban planning and management.
