Objective
Cancer remains a major public health challenge in Europe, with increasing incidence linked to physical inactivity and other modifiable lifestyle and environmental factors. Despite its proven role in prevention and recovery, active mobility - including walking, cycling, and micro-mobility - remains underutilized, hindered by limited infrastructure and weak integration of health objectives into urban mobility planning. myLIFEPATH aims to support cities in embedding active mobility as a core element of health-promoting, climate-resilient urban mobility systems. The project establishes ten Urban Living Labs across diverse European contexts to co-design, test, and validate a suite of interoperable digital tools. These tools address behavioral change, infrastructure planning, tactical urbanism, safety monitoring, traffic management, and health integration - leveraging smart technologies such as AI, IoT, and Cooperative Intelligent Transport Systems (C-ITS). Grounded in co-creation and implementation research, myLIFEPATH will deliver scalable strategies to increase the modal share of active mobility and demonstrate its impact on emissions and health. This action is part of the Cancer Mission cluster of projects on “Prevention and early detection’ and on ‘Quality of Life’. The project contributes directly to the goals of the Cancer and Climate-Neutral & Smart Cities Missions, aligning with the European Declaration on Cycling, and delivering evidence-based policy guidance to support cities in meeting climate and public health objectives.
