Objective
This proposal is dedicated to investigate the unexplored realm of paramagnetic centres in two-dimensional (2D) hybrid perovskites using Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (EPR) spectroscopy. Such centres will be introduced by doping transition-metal and rare-earth ions into the perovskite structure, which will enable the exploration of phase transitions, lattice dynamics, and degradation mechanisms in these materials. To complement the EPR investigations, additional techniques, including broadband dielectric spectroscopy and photoluminescence measurements, will be employed to gain further insights into structural and dynamic processes of 2D hybrid perovskites. The findings of this research will be used to optimize quantum and optoelectronic properties, as fabrication of highly efficient light-emitting diodes and low-cost single-photon quantum emitters will be carried out. By uncovering the fundamental science of paramagnetic centres in 2D perovskites, this research will not only broaden the understanding of key physical phenomena but also pave the way for technological innovations with impact across multiple disciplines. The planned research will be conducted in the EPR group at the Faculty of Physics, Vilnius University, under the supervision of Prof. Mantas Šimėnas.

Net EU financial contribution. The sum of money that the participant receives, deducted by the EU contribution to its linked third party. It considers the distribution of the EU financial contribution between direct beneficiaries of the project and other types of participants, like third-party participants.
