Objective
GOF3 (Get Operations Fused) addresses the critical need for safe, scalable, and integrated low and very low-level mixed airspace operations, aiming to significantly increase airspace capacity through innovative CNS and U-space solutions with two SESAR solutions.
Solution 1 targets TRL7 and focuses on GNSS-redundant electronic conspicuity and resilient data links for low-altitude airspace users on the ground and in the air by integrating data from different surveillance and e-conspicuity systems with mobile network capabilities. GOF3 provides a cost-effective, interoperable blueprint for situational awareness and conflict detection without requiring extensive new infrastructure or costly onboard equipment. Solution 2 targets TRL6 and extends U-space services to crewed and uncrewed aircraft and reaches also outside U-space airspace with traffic info as well as pilot and air traffic controller decision support and conflict management capabilities. It aims to create the initial building blocks for scalable and affordable BVLOS operations outside segregated airspace, facilitating better utilization of the low-level airspace outside of instrument flight sectors and laying the groundwork for integrated, flexible airspace management.
The project builds on numerous SESAR initiatives, aligns with the Digital European Sky vision and the European ATM Master Plan as well as incorporates military considerations for sovereignty and interoperability and aligns with NATO priorities and EDA guidelines.
An agile approach with focus on developing connections between high-TRL building blocks using existing and developing new open API’s enables rapid progress and fast industrialisation. The solutions will be validated with high-fidelity simulations, live demonstrations, and through stakeholder feedback.
In sum, GOF3 combines technological innovation, regulatory support, operational concepts and safety assessments to realize a future-proof, interoperable European low-altitude airspace.
